Orrery is an astrology app that works on your phone. In short: your birth details and everything calculated from them stay on your device. We don't have accounts, servers that receive your data, analytics, ads or trackers.
Who we are
Orrery is made by Daniil Gerasimov, an independent developer trading as Dangeon Studio, based in Washington State, USA. For data protection law, we are the "controller" of the little personal data described below. Contact: hello@dangeonstudio.com.
What stays on your phone
To draw your chart, Orrery asks for your name (optional), birth date, birth time (optional) and birthplace. Your settings (such as appearance and language) and whether you have Premium are stored the same way. All of this is kept only in the app's private storage on your device. It is never sent to us or anyone else, and we cannot see it. Birthplace search uses a database built into the app, so it works offline.
Because this data never leaves your device, we don't process it on our side.
What we do receive, and why
Emails you send us. If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include. We use it only to reply (legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you). We delete support conversations when they're no longer needed, and at the latest two years after the last message, unless the law requires us to keep them longer.
Purchases. Orrery Premium is sold by Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play), who handle payment under their own privacy policies. We never see your card details or, normally, your name. The stores give us sales reports (for example the product, price, date, country and an order number) that we need to run the business and meet tax and accounting rules (legal bases: performing our contract with you, and legal obligation). We keep these records for as long as tax law requires.
The app asks the store whether you have an active purchase. That check happens between your phone and Apple or Google.
Who else is involved
- Apple and Google distribute the app and process payments, as independent controllers.
- Cloudflare forwards emails sent to hello@dangeonstudio.com to our inbox and provides our domain's DNS.
- GitHub hosts this website. Like any web host, it may briefly log technical data such as IP addresses for security.
These providers are based in the United States. Transfers of personal data from the EU or UK rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses. We don't sell or share personal information, and we never use it for advertising.
Cookies and tracking
Neither the app nor this website uses cookies, analytics, advertising identifiers or tracking of any kind, so there is nothing to consent to.
Marketing
We don't send marketing messages.
Deleting your data
- In the app: Settings > Start over erases your birth details. Deleting the app removes everything it stored.
- Backups: if your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) is on, it may include the app's data. That backup is controlled by you and Apple or Google.
- Emails: ask us at hello@dangeonstudio.com and we'll delete our correspondence with you, except where the law requires us to keep it.
- Subscriptions: cancel in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the EU and UK GDPR and California law), you can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal data we hold about you, and to restrict or object to how we use it. Write to hello@dangeonstudio.com and we'll answer within one month. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Orrery isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly receive personal data from them. If you believe a child has written to us, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If Orrery ever handles data differently (for example, if a future feature needs the internet), we'll update this policy before the change, and the date above will change.
